Welcome to the CFA Ottawa Society website, an affiliate of the CFA Institute. The CFA Institute is a nonprofit organization of more than 71,000 investment professionals from over 120 countries worldwide. Through its headquarters in the United States and local societies and chapters throughout the world, CFA Institute provides knowledge to investment professionals while promoting a high level of standards, ethics and professionalism within the investment industry.

CFA Institute's membership is global in scope, and its activities are worldwide. The CFA Ottawa Society represents members in the Ottawa region working in the Ottawa finance industry. The Society has over 285 members.  Functions are held regularly at the Rideau Club in downtown Ottawa from September to June.

Financial Modeling Course

The CFA Ottawa Society will be hosting a 2-day Financial Modeling course on May 19-20. The course will focus on designing and creating an interactive financial model of a company for credit purposes that adheres to the highest industry standards and how to properly incorporate a company’s capital structure into the model. Further details are available in the attached document. Participation is limited to twelve individuals and the course will be held at Export Development Canada (151 O’Connor) starting at 8:30am. Cost is $750 for members and $850 for non-members. Registration is now full. Since the interest and demand for the course was so high, the Society will likely offer another session in the Fall.

CFA Ottawa will be hosting a noon luncheon on Wednesday April 14th at the Rideau Club. Dr. Marie Brière who holds a PhD in Economics (Université Paris X Nanterre), Masters in Economics (Université Paris IX Dauphine) and graduated from ENSAE will be our guest speaker. Ms. Brière specializes in Economics (interest rates, sovereign debts) and Finance (asset allocation, financial markets, forecasting, interest rates and options).
